CMS eighth-graders honored at recognition ceremony

 

They walked in as eighth-graders, and left ready to become high school freshmen.

 

Campbellsville Middle School eighth-graders were honored with several special awards and recognitions on Sunday, May 19.

 

CMS Principal Zach Lewis told his eighth-graders that the day is set aside to celebrate them and their accomplishments.

 

Several leadership and other special awards were presented during the ceremony.

 

Haylee Allen and Chase Hord received the leadership awards.

 

Receiving the citizenship award are Aubrey Young and Levi Dicken.

 

Mary Russell and Zamar Owens received the cooperation award.

 

Whitney Frashure and Weston Mattingly received the scholarship awards.

 

And Asia Barbour and Zamar Owens received the Cameron Smith awards.

 

Chase Hord gave the invocation and Seth Hash delivered the benediction.

 

The CMS choir eighth-graders sang “A Million Dreams.”

Karlee Rakel and Mikaela Scharbrough were honored for placing first in future problem solving at District competition.

 

Haylee Allen was honored for placing first in composition and fourth in math at District, and placing second in composition at region, advancing to state.

 

Whitney Frashure was honored for placing second in social studies at District competition.

 

Junior Beta Club

Whitney Frashure was honored for placing third in language arts at state convention.

 

Alysa Howard was honored for placing fifth in apparel design at state convention.

 

Chase Hord was honored for serving as state and national secretary and placing second in the club trading pin at state convention.

 

The three advance to national competition this summer in Oklahoma.
