Kirby Smith 5th Region Athletic Director's Hall of Fame Inductee

KIRBY SMITH SELECTED AS CAMPBELLSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL’S INDUCTEE IN THE 2022 5TH REGION ATHLETIC DIRECTOR’S HALL OF FAME

Campbellsville High School Athletic Department is proud to announce that Mr. Kirby Smith has been selected as Campbellsville High School’s inductee in the 2022 5th Region Athletic Director’s Hall of Fame.

Coach Smith graduated from Spencer County High School in 1989 and then attended Campbellsville College, where he played baseball for 4 years.  Coach Smith began his coaching career at his alma mater, Spencer County, in 1994.  During his 10-year stint at Spencer County he won 143 games, had 6 district runner-up teams and one district championship.  Coach Smith then came to Campbellsville High School as a resource teacher in 2006 while also serving as an assistant baseball coach at Campbellsville University.  In 2007, Coach Smith was named as the head baseball coach at Campbellsville High School, a position he held for the next 10 years.  During his tenure at CHS, Coach Smith won 186 games, had 6 consecutive district championships (2008 thru 2013); had four 5th Region Semi-finals appearances and in 2011 led the Eagles to a 5th Region Runner-up finish.  He also led the Eagles to 3 All A 5th Region titles in 2007, 2008 and 2016, Class A Sectional Championship in 2007 and 2016 were the Eagles finished in the final four at the All A State Tournament.

Coach Smith has also served as CHS principal for 8 years, from 2009 to 2017.  In 2017, Coach Smith was named Superintendent for the Campbellsville Independent School System, a position he still maintains for the district.  During his time as a district administrator Mr Smith has led the Campbellsville Independent School System to higher standards, both academically and athletically.  During his tenure, Campbellsville High School has become one of the top high schools academically, in not only the region, but also the state.  Athletically, Mr Smith has worked on, developed and improved several of the district’s athletic facilities, including the completion of the track and field complex on the Durham Campus and the turf project for the district’s baseball/football complex and softball field at the Durham Campus.

Kirby is married to Andrea Deaton Smith and they have three children, Kameron, a student at Lindsey Wilson College, Kaylyn, a senior at CHS and Karsyn, a 6th grader at CMS.
