The Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test (BMCT) is a mechanical aptitude test (MAT) that is administered by the Adult Learning Center. Persons applying for industrial/technical and repair jobs take the test to qualify for employment as: skilled welders, electricians and carpenters; automotive and aircraft mechanics; engineers; and truck/equipment operators. The BMCT measures complex skills sets, including physical principles, mechanical reasoning and spatial intelligence. Plus, the test is used to determine a candidate's ability to learn advanced mechanical skills on the job. The BMCT is popular among industry employers and psychologists because it encompasses criterion-related validation studies and specific parameters for interpreting mechanical aptitudes and problem-solving profiles.
