CES students make bird feeders

Campbellsville Elementary School students recently learned to make their own bird feeders during a reading lesson.

CES teacher Vanessa Adkins meets with students each day to help them with reading and math skills.

During a recent lesson, students read the book “The Mystery of the Missing Berries.”

In the story, some birds eat one of the character’s strawberry plants. To save the plants, the characters make a bird feeder.

After working hard to read the story, Adkins taught her students how to make a bird feeder with pinecones, peanut butter and bird seed.

When the bird feeders were finished, the students hung them on trees around the CES campus.
