CMS students study figurative language

Campbellsville Middle School sixth-graders are learning about figurative language.

In Andrea Gribbins’s language arts and reading class, students are learning to show, and not tell, in their writing.

Gribbins encouraged students to paint a word picture for their readers, and use descriptors instead of simply stating the obvious.

To help them learn the concepts of similes, metaphors and illustrations, Gribbins brought a jar with a black widow spider inside to school as a subject for her students’ writing.
