CES Wings Express students make Santa crafts

Campbellsville Elementary School Wings Express students recently made some Santa Claus crafts.

Kelsie Pepper from the Taylor County Public Library came to CES to read with students and make Christmas crafts.

Pepper read Christmas stories and then helped students make a Santa Claus clothespin.

Students colored a picture of Santa and then glued it on a clothespin.

Wings Express is a program to help students with homework and other activities. Students receive help with reading, math, science, technology, social skills and more. They also participate in activities to learn about nutrition.

The program, which is for students in kindergarten through third grade, is free to those who apply and are accepted.

Wings Express students stay at school from 3 to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. There are no activities on Fridays.

Students are given a snack and then divided into groups to participate in programs that best fit their needs.

About 90 students participate in the Wings Express program.

Doretha Sanders is Wings Express director.
