CHS cross country runner advances to state meet

Campbellsville High School cross country team recently completed its season, with a runner advancing to the state meet.

 

CHS junior Ian McAninch competed in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association boys’ cross country meet at the Kentucky Horse Park on Saturday, Nov. 4.

 

He competed against 264 runners, made up of teams and individual runners from across the state.

 

McAninch finished the 3.1-mile race in 20 minutes and seven seconds, in 166th place.

 

McAninch advanced to the state meet after his finish at the Region 2 Class A meet on Saturday, Oct. 28.

 

At the region meet, McAninch placed 26th overall in 19:58, which is a personal record for him at the Green County course. McAninch was the fourth place individual finisher not on a team.

 

CHS junior Evan McAninch finished in 38th place in 20:45.

 

Jonathan Sparks, a CHS freshman, finished in 40th place, at 21:15.

 

And CHS freshman Jake Dicken was 48th, in 22:15, which is a personal record.

 

In the girls’ race, CHS sophomore Gracyne Hash finished in 31st place, at 25:18.

 

CHS cross country runners performed well during the last meet of the regular season, which was at Miller Park in Campbellsville on Thursday, Oct. 19.

 

In the boys’ race, CHS junior Evan McAninch finished in 10th place, in 19:26, which is a personal record.

 

Ian McAninch, a CHS junior, finished in 12th place, in 19:31, which is also a personal record.

 

Jonathan Sparks, a CHS freshman, finished in 15th place overall in 20:42, which is a personal record.

 

And CHS freshman Jake Dicken finished in 22nd place, at 22:24, which is a personal record.

 

Gracyne Hash, a CHS sophomore, finished the girls’ race in seventh place, at 23:34.

 

In the middle school race, Campbellsville Middle School seventh-grader Chase Hord finished in third place, at 10 minutes. He set a new personal record for distance.

 

Sixth-grader Caleb Holt finished in 16th place at 11:55, which is a new personal record for distance.

 

Nate Arachi, an eighth-grader, finished in 20th place, at 13:37, which is a new personal record in distance.

 

CMS eighth-grader Serenity Ford finished in eighth place at 12:20, which is a personal record for distance.

 

Campbellsville Elementary School third-grader Baylee Pike finished in 13th place in 12:45, which is a new personal record in distance.

 

CMS seventh-grader MaCayla Falls finished in 21st place in 13:57, which is a personal record in distance.
