CMS students celebrate Red Ribbon Week

Campbellsville Middle School students celebrated Red Ribbon Week last week with several special events.

 

Red Ribbon Week is the largest drug prevention campaign in the country, and serves as a way for students to take a stand against illegal drugs.

 

This year, Red Ribbon Week was Oct. 23-27.

 

Events included special dress up days and other activities.

 

Monday was United We Stand Against Drugs Day, and students wore red, white and blue.

 

Dress-up winners for the day were sixth-graders Diego Noyola and Ava Hughes, seventh-graders Gavin Morris and Aubrey Young and eighth-graders Isabella Vannice and Brandon Castellano.

 

Tuesday was Don’t Get Tied Down with Drugs Day, and students wore tie-dye items.

 

Dress-up winners for the day were sixth-graders Layla Steen and Elijah Sears-Goin, seventh-graders Alexis Byers, Alysa Howard and Seth Hash and eighth-graders Josh Lucas and Brittany Martin.

 

On Wednesday, students wore camouflage for Be All You Can Be: Drug Free Day.

 

Dress-up winners were sixth-graders Leo Lamer and Margaret Johnson, seventh-graders Cameron Mahan and MaCayla Falls and eighth-graders Adin Hunt and Chloe Anderson.

 

Thursday was Real Heroes Don’t Do Drugs Day, with students wearing superhero items.

 

Dress-up day winners were sixth-graders Alexis Sharp and Dakota Tungate, seventh-graders Seth Hash, Alexis Byers, Jade Wheeler and Briana Davis and eighth-graders Jadan Furman, Kitana Taylor and Christina Miller.

 

And Friday was Team Up Against Drugs Day, and students wore Campbellsville or team clothing.

 

Dress-up day winners were sixth-graders Ryan Grubbs and Hannah Singleton, seventh-graders Zamar Owens and Antaya Epps and eighth-graders Logan Phillips and Brae Washington.

 

On Monday, Oct. 30, a guest speaker from the United States Attorney’s Office will talk to CMS students about drug awareness.

 

Students were given Red Ribbon Week bracelets at the beginning of the week, and those who wore them through the week were randomly given tickets for prizes.
