CIS Marching Ensemble advances to state semi-finals competition

Campbellsville Independent Schools Marching Ensemble has advanced to state semi-finals competition.

The band participated in Class A regional competition on Saturday, Oct. 21, at Madison Southern High School.

CHS finished in fifth place, with the Top 8 bands advancing to state semi-finals competition.

Semi-finals competition will be at Bullitt Central High School in Shepherdsville.

CHS will perform at 10:30 a.m.

Sixteen bands will perform, with the Top 4 advancing to finals competition, which is at Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium in Louisville.

This year’s show is entitled The Black Mirror Effect, which is a unique show that explores the hidden aspects of social media and the effect it can have on our persona and attitudes.

The ensemble includes about 30 playing members, five color guard and several volunteers to create special effects.

CIS competes in the Kentucky Music Educators Association marching band circuit, in Class A, and in the Mid-States Band Association circuit, also in Class A.

Zach Shelton is the CHS band director. Brittany Johnson is assistant.
