Campbellsville High School baseball team picked up several wins during its annual spring break trip to Florida to play in the Fort Walton Beach Bash.
CHS defeated Crittenden County on Sunday, April 2, by a score of 12-0.
Ryan Kearney, a sophomore, pitched for the Eagles and struck out eight. CHS junior Ethan Lay lead a 12-hit attack with two triples and four RBIs.
On Tuesday, April 4, CHS defeated Bellbrook by a score of 5-2.
Brennon Wheeler, a freshman pitched for the Eagles. He struck out seven. Campbellsville Middle School eighth-grader John Orberson led the team with two hits.
CHS defeated Lyon County on Thursday, April 6, by a score of 7-6.
The team broke the tie in the top of the seventh inning to pick up the win. Campbellsville Middle School eighth-grader Arren Hash pitched for the Eagles, with junior Wyatt Houk pitching in relief. Sophomores Ryan Kearney and Treyce Mattingly and junior Wyatt Houk all added two hits.
And CHS defeated Livingston on Friday, April 7, by a score of 13-3.
CHS sophomore Ryan Kearney pitched a complete game, allowing just three hits and striking out 10. He also added three hits and two RBIs.
CHS will take on Taylor County in a district match up on Tuesday, April 11. Game time is 5:30 p.m. at the TCHS field.
Kirby Smith is the head CHS baseball coach. Assistants are Blake Milby, Zach Lewis, Phil Gowdy and Lynn Kearney.
The CHS softball team battled hard in the Fort Walton Beach Bash, but couldn’t bring home any wins.
The team lost to Henry County, Muhlenberg, Webster County and Lexington Christian.
CHS will play Taylor County on Monday, April 10, at Veterans Memorial Park. Game time is 6 p.m.
