Campbellsville Independent Schools has welcomed 13 new staff members to the Eagle family for the new school year.
The new employees work at Campbellsville elementary, middle and high schools and the Campbellsville Board of Education office.
From teachers to instructional assistants and support positions, the new staff members are an integral part of making the new school year a success.
About 45 employee transfers were made during the summer break, from the District’s top leadership position to new principals to teachers and more.
Kirby Smith is now superintendent. He was formerly CHS principal.
Elisha Rhodes is now CES principal. She was serving in that post at CMS. Weston Jones and Doretha Sanders are new assistant principals at CES.
Zach Lewis, who was an assistant principal at CES, is now principal at CMS.
And David Petett, who was transportation director and director of districtwide programs, is now the principal at CHS.
This year’s new staff members are as follows.
BOARD OF EDUCATION
B.J. Perkins is a bus monitor, CES cafeteria worker and custodian at the Board office.
She is married to Steve Perkins and they have three children, Averi, who is a fifth-grader at CES; Jorden, a junior at CHS; and Blake, a freshman at CHS.
Perkins previously worked at Frost Arnett as an accounts representative and as a private, in-home caregiver.
She previously worked for CIS as a bus monitor.
In her spare time, Perkins enjoys selling paparazzi jewelry, fishing, gardening and spending time with her family.
CAMPBELLSVILLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Connie Delk is a cook and baker at the CES cafeteria.
She is married to Richard Delk, and they have two children, Travis Delk and Amber Johnson, who is an exceptional child educator at CES.
Delk previously worked at Bardstown City Schools as a cook and baker and at Ford Motor Co. as an assembler.
In her spare time, she enjoys fishing, boating and going to the lake.
Zach Durham is an instructional assistant at CES.
He is the son of Dan and Leslie Durham and has a daughter, Chandler.
Durham graduated from CHS in 2014 and from Campbellsville University this year with a degree in criminal justice.
He previously worked at Hibbett Sports as an assistant manager.
Durham was a Wendy’s Heisman award winner in 2014.
Thomas Phillips is a custodial worker at CES.
He is married to Lola Phillips and served in the United States Army.
Phillips previously worked at Republic Staffing as a janitor, Amazon as a picker and BFI as a truck driver.
Keri Rowe is a third-grade teacher at CES.
She is the daughter of Terry and Teresa Rowe of Columbia.
Rowe graduated from Adair County High School in 2013 and from Lindsey Wilson College this year with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
She previously worked at Certa Care Pharmacy as a technician.
Rowe was named to the president’s honor roll while she attended college and received academic scholarships to attend LWC.
In her spare time, she enjoys shopping, swimming and spending time with her family.
Julie Shelton is a preschool teacher at CES.
She is married to Zach Shelton, who is band director at CHS.
They have two children, Beckett and Sadie, and a niece, Emmaline Vespie, who is a kindergartener at CES.
Shelton graduated from Madisonville North Hopkins High School in 2004, from Campbellsville University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and from Western Kentucky University in 2012 with a Master of Arts in interdisciplinary early childhood education.
She previously worked at KidSpot Center as a positive behavior support specialist and at Taylor County Head Start as a teacher.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
CAMPBELLSVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL
Kim Blevins is an instructional assistant at CMS.
She is married to Michael Johnson, and they have five children, Alex Blakeman, Gabby Pyles, Molly Pyles, Emilee Amaro and Amanda DeNolf, and two grandchildren, Oliver Amaro and Landen Amaro.
Blevins graduated from Green County High School and from Elizabethtown Community and Technical College in 2013 with an associate’s degree in criminal justice.
She previously worked at KidSpot Center as a quality improvement assistant manager.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading and yoga.
Debbie Edwards is a guidance clerk at CMS.
She is married to Ken Edwards.
Edwards graduated from Tompkinsville High School and from Western Kentucky University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication disorders.
She previously worked at CIS and Marion County Schools as a speech language pathologist.
While working for CIS, she received the Dare to Soar award and coached the academic team.
In her spare time, Edwards enjoys reading and gardening.
Andrea Gribbins is a sixth-grade language arts teacher at CMS.
She is married to Robbie Gribbins, and they have two children, Tyler, who is a sophomore at CHS, and Trinidy, who is a kindergartener at CES.
Gribbins is the daughter of Beauford Sanders and Lynn Henry.
She graduated from Taylor County High School in 2002, from Campbellsville University in 2009 with a degree in middle grades education and from University of the Cumberlands with a Master of Arts degree as a reading and writing specialist in 2014.
She previously worked at LaRue and Taylor county schools as a language arts teacher.
In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family and friends.
CAMPBELLSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL
Gilly Beard is a cafeteria worker at CHS.
She is married to Buddy Anderson and graduated from CHS and Campbellsville University.
Beard previously owned and operated Annetta’s Flowers and Gifts.
In her spare time, she enjoys flowers, gardening and decorating.
James Cheuvront is a custodial worker at CHS.
He is married to Jean Cheuvront and they have a daughter, Winnie.
Tasha Goff is an instructional assistant at CHS.
She is married to Correy Goff, and they have two children, Hayden, who is a kindergartener at CES, and Cage.
Goff is the daughter of Candace Wilson and Gary Phillips.
She graduated from CHS in 2002 and from Clemson University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in sports management.
She previously worked at Workout Anytime as a personal trainer.
Goff played professional basketball in Germany, and, in her spare time, enjoys farming, hunting, fishing, sports and spending time with her family.
Mary Jo Hazel
Mary Jo Hazel is a science teacher at CHS.
She is married to Nick Hazel, and they have three children, Matthew Hazel, Justin Hazel and Carlie Hazel.
Hazel is the daughter of Don and Gail Shaw.
She graduated from Taylor County High School, from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in medical technology, from Campbellsville University with a degree in biology with teaching certification and from Western Kentucky University with a Master of Arts degree in chemistry education.
Hazel previously worked at Marion and Taylor county schools as a teacher and Taylor Regional Hospital as a medical technologist.
In her spare time, she enjoys walking, kayaking and reading.
