Campbellsville Board of Education members were honored at their regular meeting on Monday, Jan. 8, for their dedication and service to Campbellsville Independent Schools.
The month of January is recognized as School Board Recognition Month.
Campbellsville Independent Schools Superintendent Kirby Smith honored each Board member with a certificate of thanks.
And, on behalf of staff members and administrators, Campbellsville Elementary School Principal Elisha Rhodes, Campbellsville Middle School Principal Zach Lewis and Campbellsville High School Principal David Petett presented the Board members with some Eagle apparel.
Board members include Chair Pat Hall, who has served for 10 years; Vice Chair Suzanne Wilson, who has served for 11 years; Barkley Taylor, who has served for 25 years; Angie Johnson, who has served for 19 years; and Mitch Overstreet, who has served for 12 years.
Rhodes said she and the other principals can’t say enough how thankful they are for the Board members.
“The time that you volunteer, your willingness to serve,” she said. “I feel strongly that I could speak for everybody when I say, if we have a concern, you’re there to listen, you hear it out and you’re willing to take action. Not every District can say that.”
Smith said he wants to thank Board members for all they do, in his capacity as superintendent, formerly as Campbellsville High School principal and also as a parent.
He said Campbellsville Independent Schools is truly blessed to have Board members who truly care for their District and want to see every student succeed.
“As I get out in the state more, and you hear things, I’m thinking, ‘I am so thankful. We are so thankful to have what we have.’”
