Campbellsville Middle School boys’ eighth-grade basketball team remains perfect this season and advances to the second round of the Central Kentucky Middle School Athletic Conference tournament.

On Friday, Jan. 20, the CMS seventh- and eighth-grade teams played Casey County in the first round of the tournament.

CMS seventh-graders fought hard, but couldn’t come up a win.

Final score of that match up was 27-55.

Seventh-grader Dakota Harris and sixth-grader Chase Hord each added seven points to the scoreboard.

CMS eighth-graders won their game by a score of 47-30.

Eighth-grader John Orberson had 10 points and classmate Kameron Smith had nine.

The eighth-grade squad advances to the second round of CKMSAC tournament play, and will take on Metcalfe County on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Campbellsville High School gym.

In addition to CMS, the CKMSAC includes Adair, Casey, Green, Hart, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor county middle schools.

CMS and Green, Hart and Taylor counties play in the north division, and Casey, Russell, Metcalfe and Adair counties play in the south division.

The CMS eighth-grade squad – which went undefeated this regular season – is the top seed in its division.

Lynn Kearney coaches the CMS sixth- and eighth-grade teams. Joseph Taylor is the seventh-grade coach.
