CMS boys’ eighth-grade basketball team finishes season undefeated

Campbellsville Middle School boys’ eighth-grade basketball team defeated Metcalfe County on Monday, Jan. 16, to end its regular season as undefeated.

 

Final score was 50-22.

 

Eighth-grader Tristin Faulkner had 17 points, and classmate John Orberson had 16.

 

CMS seventh-graders fought hard, but couldn’t come up with a win.

 

Final score was 43-32.

 

Sixth-grader Deondre Weathers led his team with nine points.

 

CMS sixth-graders also lost their match up, by a score of 47-34.

 

Sixth-grader Kaydon Taylor led with 21 points and classmate Keondre Weathers had 10.

 

With the regular season having ended, Central Kentucky Middle School Athletic Conference tournaments will begin on Thursday, Jan. 19.

 

CMS seventh- and eighth-grade teams will compete in first round play on Friday, Jan. 20.

 

In addition to CMS, the CKMSAC includes Adair, Casey, Green, Hart, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor county middle schools.

 

CMS and Green, Hart and Taylor counties play in the north division, and Casey, Russell, Metcalfe and Adair counties play in the south division.

 

The CMS seventh-grade team is ranked as fourth in its division, while the eighth-grade squad is the top seed in its division.

 

In first round play, the CMS seventh- and eighth-grade teams will play Casey County on Friday, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Campbellsville High School gymnasium.

 

Should the CMS teams advance to the second round of play, they will take on the winners of the Green County vs. Metcalfe County games on Thursday, Jan. 19.

 

Second round games will be played on Monday, Jan. 23, and Tuesday, Jan. 24.

 

And the championship games are set for Thursday, Jan. 26.
