CMS students inducted into National Junior Beta Club

Twenty-six new members were inducted into Campbellsville Middle School’s National Junior Beta Club on Tuesday, Nov. 22.

To be eligible to become a member, CMS students must be a leader in their school, maintain a 3.5 GPA and commit to completing community service hours. Teachers can also nominate students to become members.

At the induction ceremony, CMS Principal Elisha Rhodes said hard work has earned students a spot in the Beta club.

“ … Not only in the classroom, but in the community as well.”

Rhodes said students should take pride in being a part of the Beta Club because students look up to the members.

“Both leadership and character start with you,” she said.

Rhodes also thanked the parents and guardians of the new Beta Club members for allowing CMS teachers and staff members the opportunity to teach and guide them.

“We are proud to be a part of their journey,” she said.

CMS seventh-grader Arren Hash, Beta chaplain, prayed that the new Beta members will enjoy being part of the club, and learn from it.

CMS seventh-grader Kaylyn Smith, who is president of the CMS Beta Club, said there are four ideals Beta members must have, including achievement, character, leadership and service. Each is represented with a key that will unlock club members’ futures.

Current Beta members spoke about the qualities.

New members were asked to recite the Beta pledge, which states they will be honest and truthful at all times, maintain a creditable scholastic record, be of service to others and behave in a manner that reflects credit upon the community and CMS. New members received a certificate of induction and a pin and were treated to refreshments after the ceremony.
