Campbellsville Independent Schools’ students recently created the sounds of Christmas.
CIS presented its annual “Christmas Spectacular” on Sunday, Dec. 10, in Campbellsville High School’s Hamilton Auditorium.
Music ensembles from Campbellsville elementary, middle and high schools performed, including the second-grade choir, the third-, fourth- and fifth-grade choir, the CHS jazz band, the CMS and CHS choirs, winds and percussion students and beginning band students.
CES fourth-graders in Garnetta Murrell’s leadership class performed “Run, Run, Rudolph” on the bucket drums.
CES third-, fourth- and fifth-grade choir members performed “Blitzen’s Boogie,” “Christmas Time is Here” and “Born, Born in Bethlehem.”
CHS jazz band members played “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” and “Up on the Housetop.”
The CES second-grade choir sang “I’m So Glad to Be Here,” “Christmas Makes Me Sing,” “Feliz Navidad” and “This Day of Peace.”
CMS choir members sang “On a Starlight Night” and “Christmas in About Three Minutes.”
CMS first-year band students played “Jolly Old St. Nick,” “Good King Wenceslas,” “Sweetly Sings the Donkey” and “Go Big Santa.”
CMS first- and second-year band students combined to play “Conquest.”
CMS second-year band students played “Silent Night,” “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” “Jingle Bells” and “Dance of the Sugarplum Fairies.”
CHS choir members sang “Away in a Manger” and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman.”
And, to end the performance, wind and percussion students played “The Nutcracker” and “Variant on an Old English Carol.”
Cyndi Chadwick is the CES music teacher. Jessica Floyd teaches music at CMS, and Zach Shelton is the CMS and CHS band director.
